Unique Wedding Photography Ideas – An UnPlugged Wedding

Today we’d like to share one of the unique wedding photography ideas that is creating some buzz within the wedding industry… how about having an unplugged wedding?

An unplugged wedding?  What is that?  It’s a wedding where the bride and groom ask their guests to turn off all of their smart phones, tablets and cameras, so that they can sit back, relax and enjoy the wedding, and let the wedding professionals capture the day.

This has been a very popular topic amongst wedding photographers in the past year.  We understand that all of your guests are excited about your wedding and they all want to take their own photos during the ceremony and the reception, but you don’t know how many times and how many shoulders we have tapped on at every wedding ceremony that we had to ask the guests to stay clear of the aisle so that Darren and I can get the shots that we need to get.

Check out all the “paparazzi” at our client’s weddings:

And in this digital age, everyone shares their images on Facebook or Instagram almost instantly.  We almost had a few “First Looks” ruined because the bridal party couldn’t wait to post photos of the bride or the groom before they were to see each other, and we had to tell them to hold off posting their photos on social media until after the ceremony!

Not only is an unplugged wedding not happening with our clients, but they are also actually encouraging their guests to take photos since they all create a hashtag for their wedding or they have accounts with Wedding Party or  Appy Couple!

We are still hoping to have some unplugged weddings in the future, but in the meantime we just have to embrace all these guestographers and hope that they won’t get in our way during the important moments!
