Now that it’s engagement season, a lot of you are starting to hire the “dream team” for your wedding day. We understand weddings are expensive (Darren and I were in your shoes just 8 years ago), and everyone has a budget… and there are so many details you need to think about from the venue to the flowers to catering to photography to invitations…etc. But if there is only one thing that you can splurge on, we would highly recommend wedding photography!
We are not saying it because we are wedding photographers. I told my brides and grooms the same thing even when I used to be a wedding planner; and as a former bride and groom ourselves, Darren and I definitely agree with how important wedding photography is now that we look back at our own wedding photos and album.
Your wedding day is one of the most important days in your life. On that day, there are so many details and little moments that you may or may not remember. And only after the wedding when you look at your photos and album, you will relive those memories again. We just finished working on a client album, so we thought it would be fitting if we share these photos on this blog post!
Look at the photos of your dress, your shoes… when they were still pristine and you were wearing them for the first time:
Look at the photos of your bouquet when it was still fresh and beautiful:
The moment when you walked down the aisle with dad, and your husband-to-be was waiting for you at the front of the altar:
And all of your closest families and friends were there to witness your commitment to each other:
Look back at all the time and resources you spent on the beautiful centerpieces, lighting and decor:
And of course we can’t forget about the gorgeous cake, the first dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance:
Also the beautiful venue where you had your wedding:
Of course, all the other elements of your wedding are important as well… but the photos are not just for you and your husband-to-be, your families and friends would all like to have beautiful photos to remember your special occasion by. And someday if and when you start a family of your own, won’t you want to share your gorgeous wedding photos with your children and grandchildren?
Wedding Photography is very different than landscape photography or just food photography. As wedding photographers, we are actually portrait photographers (for the family group shots), fashion photographers (for the bride and groom + bridal party shots), product photographers (for the rings/invitations/dress/jewelry shots), food photographers, event photographers all combined into one! We have to be well-rounded in all areas and be able to photograph everything within 10 to 14 hours, and anticipate what’s coming next. Wedding photography is a very specialized style of photography and not all photographers are trained to do weddings. For such an important day like your wedding day, you should definitely be hiring a wedding photographer and not just any photographer.
Happy planning!
